SUN at NAM
We are delighted to be featuring SUN at this year's NAM. SUN is an art installation that shows the dynamic evolution of our own Sun. At 7m wide, SUN is an inflatable sphere that is suspended from above and is centrally illuminated with real data from our very own Sun. For more information, see their website.
SUN Outreach programme
In collaboration with STFC and Warwick University, SUN will be headlining our school outreach programme during NAM2022. This programme is almost fully booked, please see the information page for details.
Self-guided tour
SUN will be available on the evening of Monday 11 July and afternoons throughout the week for self-guided tours. Here we will have videos from Warwick's own solar researchers explaining about their research as well as an augmented reality magnetic fields. All you'll need is a smart phone that can scan QR codes and some curiosity. You can book your free tickets here.
A Space Opera with SUN
For the first time ever, SUN will host an Opera performance! Come along to enjoy the music and theatre, talks from the scientists and artists that created SUN and enjoy some nibbles and drinks. Tickets are free but essential, book here.
Science festival
SUN will also be featuring in our Science Festival, please see the information page for more details.
Solar Observing
After taking a look at SUN, why not head outside to have a look at the real thing? Join us out on the Piazza for an afternoon of solar observing! With the correct equipment, it is possible to safely get a close-up look of our own dynamic and changeable star, the Sun. Warwick AstroSoc will be on hand to show you the Sun through our specialised solar telescopes, and hopefully catch sight of sunspots, faculae, prominences and more.
