Trip to Kenilworth Castle
Monday, 11 July 2022
Three coaches will leave for Kenilworth (15 min drive) from the main Warwick University bus interchange at 18:05, 18:10 and 18:15, a short walk from both the Arts Centre and Social Science conference area. We will travel with Johnsons Coaches, and note that unrelated public buses may be waiting in the same area. Please ask for help at the registration desk if you are unsure.
It is important that you plan accordingly as sessions end at 6pm and some may go overtime. It is your responsibility to make sure you take the coach on time as otherwise you risk having to order a group taxi!
On arrival there will be a drink reception, followed by 40 minute guided tours in groups of 30 people. The castle grounds will close at 20:00, with coaches leaving back for campus shortly thereafter.
Please note that there will be no food served at the castle, although a limited number of take away items will be available on purchase for those with urgent needs.
One option for attendees is to stay in Kenilworth for a meal. There are various options within walking distance to the castle as it is close to Kenilworth centre. In that case, you will have to return on campus on your own. There will be several public buses going back to campus until late.
Most of the tour will be outside, so please dress accordingly in case of rain. Some portions of the castle can be a challenge for those with mobility issues. While it is possible to do a pleasant visit without visiting all areas, please let us know if that could be a problem.
Finally, all attendees will receive automatic 10% discount at the gift score and 20% discount on English Heritage membership.
