Childcare
The NAM2022 LOC recognise that childcare is a consideration for many potential attendees when choosing whether or not to attend the conference in person. We are therefore working with the University of Warwick's on-campus nursery to provide childcare for attendees where possible, the cost of which will be covered by the LOC.
The on-campus nursery caters for children aged from 3 months to 5 years old. For more information about the nursery, please visit their website.
Currently the nursery expects to have some ad-hoc places available during the week of NAM2022, but cannot confirm how many they will have for each age group. Places will be subject to availability and limited in number, and we cannot guarantee their availability.
If you are interested in booking places at the nursery during the conference, please fill out our request form:
https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/sci/physics/research/astro/nam2022/nam2022childcare
This will help the LOC and the nursery assess demand. The LOC will then confirm availability of nursery spaces with you before the registration deadline.
Support for childcare costs
As noted above, the LOC will cover the cost of any nursery places needed by NAM2022 attendees.
If your institute is signed up to the Athena Swan charter, they may offer grants to cover childcare costs while attending conferences. Often these grants are under-utilised, so it is worth checking whether they are available.
The RAS are offering grants to support NAM2022 attendees who have caring responsibilities. For more information, please visit the Grants & Bursaries page.
